Platform Overview

India's first indigenous anti-drone system was developed by BEL in collaboration with Rug-Rel Components and Systems, bringing together detection, tracking, and response functions in a single rugged field-ready platform.

The solution is designed for end-to-end 360 degree coverage with both soft-kill and hard-kill capability. It integrates RF jammers and a laser-based kill system to identify and neutralize hostile drone activity.

Rug-Rel designed and delivered the radar computer for this system as a 3U VPX-based platform dedicated to radar data processing and signal data processing in demanding operational environments.

Rug-Rel architected the radar computer as a 3U VPX subsystem around the actual anti-drone processing chain instead of positioning a generic rugged computer.

The company integrated Xeon SBCs, NVIDIA GPGPU acceleration, SFPDP, 10G-KR network expansion, and VITA 62 power into one deployable defence-ready compute platform.

Its contribution sits at subsystem-execution level: aligning processing, connectivity, power, thermal design, and rugged packaging with BEL's indigenous anti-drone program needs.
